The New Dora Look

Okay, first thing. Why get worked up about the new Dora look? My god. It's just a look. Let her grow up. Take a look around you. Things change and people grow up. Some parents want Dora to stay the same. Does that mean you want your child to remain a child? If you actually seen the new Dora look, it's not all that bad. Honestly. She's wearing a skirt with leggings/tights, no makeup, execpt lip gloss, esperiallas, and longer hair. Why get worked up about that? Now if they were making a drastic change, say making her into a full blown teen, that I can understand. But come on!!! So what!?!?!?

I'm a parent myself. My little girl is 5, and likes Dora. But she's not obsessed with her like most kids are. Stop being so small minded. I bet they are going to make sure they keep at least a few things the same.

Think about it? You think companies are thinking of how to please parents? No. They are going for age groups, what sells, and basically trying to stay afloat in this economy. Sure they are going to take in suggestions from parents and try their best to accomendate them, but seriously, they just want to make money.

Don't you want future kids to grow up with different cartoons? Why do they all have to be the same ol' boring ones that most people have seen over and over? Parents have to admit watching the same thing over and over will drive them wild. They would want variety. Why not let Dora have variety. If you want the same things, go with cartoons that never change.

Plus you think that making over Dora will cause such a sensation to little girls that will want make-up, dressing like a teen, and behaving like a teen? No. Things like these have been already starting. Take a look at magazines, television shows, everything.

Your child will pick up on things in their life more than you'll ever know.

So instead of trying to keep Dora the same, concentrate on your children. Be active in their life and try to be involved. Make sure they don't see you as someone they have to keep things from. Yes, it's okay to be their friends, but also you can be a parent at the same time.

If you try to keep your child from seeing, wanting, or doing anything they will rebel and want to anyways.

Also why make a fuss over this anyways? Making a big fuss over a silly cartoon. Why not make a fuss over bigger issues?

Here I thought that the most of the American Society is growing up and becoming open minded. But then I'm reminded of those few people who will fight to let that happen.

Did you know there is a petition out there saying no to Dora's new make-over? If people will go through great lengths to do that, why not make it where it's something valuable? Make a site on saving energy? I don't know. Something like that.

Well on that note I'll end it now. Not much more else to say. Just wish some parents who want to make a fuss about changing a silly cartoon grow up. Take a look around. Everything eventually grows up!

  1. I actually don't agree with the Dora make over. her safari hat and bob hair do suited her adventuresome character and allowed her to stand out from the overly hip Brat Dolls and Barbies.
I think the way she is now is what actually makes the show so attractive to the targeted viewers. Who doesn't want to wear a safari hat and shorts to go on adventure with their pet monkey?
It would be a bad marketing decision to change to change her image because not only would it alienate her fans but it would also image would be to alienate fans and also parents... who are ultimately the ones that decide what children watch.
